Overview

student at a table studying in library Apply to our Concurrent Education as a future or current Ontario Tech student to secure a spot in our teacher education program (BEd) after completion of your four-year undergraduate degree.

Program description

Many students apply to Bachelor of Education programs to become a K-12 teacher after completion of their four-year university degree. The acceptance rate for this strategy is 10 to 30 per cent because teacher education programs are highly competitive.

However, there is a second strategy—apply to our Bachelor of Education program while you are completing your undergraduate degree. Also known as our Concurrent Education program, this option allows current and future 間眅埶AV students to apply for guaranteed entry* into our (BEd).

*Provided that you maintain the requisite grades, a spot will be reserved for you in our BEd program upon completion of your undergraduate degree.

Options

As a future or current Ontario Tech Student (enrolled in your first, second or third year), you can apply to our:

  • Primary/Junior division (teaching kindergarten to grade 6) or
  • Intermediate/Senior division (teaching grades 7 to 12)

Caitlin Morgan
I decided to complete my Bachelor of Education at Ontario Tech to teach youth who have been in conflict with the law. I was fortunate enough to have met some of my long-time friends in my undergraduate program and have been impacted by a variety of professors throughout my first four years. The professors showed me what it means to be passionate about a field of study and created a foundation for my learning, while allowing me to learn fundamental skills to prepare myself for the teaching career of my choice.
