Revenue Generation and Operation Management

Overview:

Learn how to strategically manage operations and generate funding within not-for-profit and charity organizations with the Revenue Generation and Operation Management course. Understand the unique challenges faced by not-for-profit organizations and how to best overcome these obstacles through strategic planning. This course will also help you understand and implement revenue generation methods and techniques specific to the not-for-profit sector to build your not-for-profit organization's or charity's success.

This course applies to the Not-for-Profit Leadership Certificate Program.

You may use the knowledge and skills developed through this course to improve operations and revenue generation in the not-for-profit sector, such as:

  • Executives, CEOs, managers and supervisors of not-for-profit organizations;
  • Operations managers and strategic planners of not-for-profit organizations;
  • Board members of not-for-profit organizations;
  • Those responsible for fundraising for not-for-profit organizations and charities; and
  • Anyone looking to learn more about revenue generation and operation management for not-for-profit organizations.

What'll you learn:

In this course, you will learn how to:

  • Understand the purpose, value, function and practice of general management in not-for-profit organizations and charities;
  • Analyze operations and develop a comprehensive strategic plan for operations and revenue generation based on organizational values; 
  • Identify and leverage sources of revenue and fundraising for not-for-profit organizations and charities; and
  • Create and maintain a culture of philanthropy.

Current or previous work and/or volunteer experience in the not-for-profit sector is recommended.

Online meeting times

This program has online meeting times. This means you must attend the virtual class at specified date and time (see the Schedule tab).

Google Meet or Kaltura Virtual Classroom (through Catalog) will be used for online delivery of this program to support interaction and engagement.

This course may include, but is not limited to:

  • Content presentations and/or videos;
  • Hands-on exercises;
  • Case discussions and simulations;
  • Group and individual work (assignments/quizzes);
  • Concept and topic discussions; and
  • Topic reflections.

Online learning requirements:

  • Computer or device with internet access
  • Stable internet or data connection
  • Microphone
  • Webcam*
  • Audio device (examples: speakers, headphones/earbuds, headset)

*Webcam is preferred but not required.
